Link-Light 48v System – Installation Notes

Control room is supplied in two parts (Digital Control & PSU Housing)

  • Mount in a convenient location where there is an easy/good view of shed internal area
    It is recommended that this unit be wall mounted and must not be situated in/on a wash-down area

    • Power is supplied via the PSU Housing box
    • Lighting lane signal cables from Digital Control -to- PSU Housing  (link cable is provided) 2x Lighting lanes 5-core  /  3x lighting lanes 6-core  /  4x lighting lanes 7-core
    • Maximum distance 5m from PSU housing

  • Mount the unit in a convenient place for ease of access to the ON/OFF main 230/240v system isolation switch. It is recommended that this unit be wall mounted and must not be situated in a direct wash-down area.

    • Number of lighting lanes & lighting units required must be specified at time of order
    • Lighting Lane Power-Supplies – there are two standard options:  a/ 48v 10Amp 480w     b/ 48v 5Amp 240w
    • 230/240v mains power connection directly to isolation switch – must be connected to the isolation switch on installation
    • Lighting lane connection points are provided and are clearly marked +V –V  (48v)
    • Digital Control Panel link connection points are provided and are clearly marked

    Added protection
    The Power Supplies provided have inbuilt overload protection
    Light lane protection is also provided via quick blow fuses: 12A – 32mm Glass  “or”  7A – 32mm Glass depending on PSU housing

  • Lighting units & lane wiring
    Codes: AL003 – AL004 / AL050 & AL056

  • It is recommended that this lighting lane system is installed using catenary wire

    The Link-Lights, Link-cables, Start & End of lane connection boxes should be mounted directly to catenary wire using tie-wraps (not provided)

    PSU Housing (control room) to START of lighting lane

    The cable from the control room to the start of the lighting lane is not provided  – 4 core /1.5mm

    4x core +V -V  circuit is required to ensure a return feed (ring) is installed to maintain a healthy voltage supply

    • 2x Core +V / -V   Supply
      2x Core +V / -V   Return (ring)

    • Both +V Supply/Return – connected to the same lighting lane PSU Housing connection point

    • Socket & Plug Orientation

    • System is linked together via a series of Female sockets & Male plugs. Ensure the Link-Light/Cable Plugs & Sockets are orientated correctly (female to male).

      Start of lane connection box is fitted with  Female Socket followed by Male Plug

    • START of lane connection box

    • Try to orientate the Start of lane Female socket with the first Link-Light (or Link-Cable) plug helping to avoid a twisted cable

      Internal wire connection points are supplied for easy install

    • Fitted with Male & Female plug/sockets for easy of connection to Link-Cables

      10ft (3m) fitted with Male & Female plug/sockets for easy of connection to Link-Lights

    • END of lane connection box

    • This box is required to ensure the +V / -V  return (ring) is completed Internal wire connection points are supplied (normally pre-fitted) for easy of install

    • Maximum lighting lane length

    • 125m (410ft)

    • Maximum lighting units:

    • 44 units  – Depending on PSU Housing configuration ordered

Mains power 230/240v must be fitted to the PSU Housing Isolation switch on installation. The lighting units remain ON Stand-by mode when turned-off via the Digital Control panel (all settings) – system remains LIVE.

The control panel or any part of this system must not be opened without first switching OFF the unit at the mains power.

We would recommend that appropriate power protection is fitted on installation, to protect the PSU Housing and related equipment from any possible mains supply power surges or other component failure.
